I never would have ever thought this, but Oklahoma is a hotbed for poker. There is plenty of really great poker rooms in the state. Many home poker games are formed and played among friends. There is also a large community of online poker players from this state. The laws are not too harsh for the recreational player and it seems to be a reasonable balance between regulation and personal freedom.
Oklahoma Gambling Laws
There is no unauthorised gambling allowed in this state. Even playing poker among friends could get you charged with a misdemeanor. The sentence would be a fine between $25 - $100 and/or a jail term of 1 - 30 days. Of course you could expect the law to have some leniency if you are playing a social game between friends. The Oklahoma laws are not that harsh, but it would be better if they ruled that casual poker games between friends are allowed.
