The online poker laws are easy to understand (unfortunately playing online poker is considered illegal), there are many licensed poker rooms throughout the state and the online poker rooms haven't left Louisiana poker players out of the cold yet. Overall, Louisiana is a decent state for poker players and one of the better states in the region.
Louisiana Online Gambling Laws
Louisiana has one of the most straight forward online gambling laws of almost any state. This is one of the few states that have an updated set of gambling laws. Unfortunately online gambling (including online poker) is considered illegal in this state and you could face up to six months in jail and/or fined up to $500. This is about the average sentence throughout the United States. You may not like the online gambling laws, but you should appreciate the straight forward, no interpretation of the law, way of handling the law.
