Colorado Poker

You should not have a problem finding a poker game to play, whether you like to play a home game, in a poker room or online.  Home games among friends are legal here.  Your best chance of finding a poker table inside a licensed poker room is at Blackhawk.  The online poker laws are the tough, but still reasonable.  Poker is popular and widespread in the state of Colorado.

Colorado Gambling Laws

Transmitting and/or receiving gambling information is a class C misdemeanor in Colorado. (18-10-106)  Someone who engages in gambling (not through telephone, online etc.) will be guilty of a class 1 petty offense.  Both laws are somewhat liberal when compared to most states, and there have been no known cases of an online poker player being convicted of transmitting gambling information in this state.  Playing in a social game among friends is okay here (as of January 2011).

Where to play live poker in Colorado

There are many small poker rooms in Colorado as well as some bigger ones.  The best live poker action can be found at the Ameristar Casino in Blackhawk, the Golden Gate poker room and the Lodge Casino.  All three poker rooms are in Blackhawk and have the majority of poker tables in the state.  Home poker games in Colorado are also extremely popular among friends and neighbors.  For more on where to find a poker game in Colorado you should check out the "Re: Colorado Poker (Black Hawk, Central City, Cripple Creek)" thread at

Poker sites accepting players from Colorado

Not only is this a great state to play live poker, but it is also one of the best states to play online poker.  All the major poker networks that accept Americans, will accept players from Colorado.  This includes the PaiWangLuo network (Ignition Poker,, the Chico Poker network (, Bet Online Poker) and the Winning Poker network (America's Cardroom).
For the most part, there are only three quality online poker rooms for players from Colorado.  The poker rooms listed in the same networks are operated by the same organizations and any poker room not listed above, is not worth the download.  Your options quickly drop in quality after the top three networks.  The remaining poker rooms that accept players from Colorado have so few players, that some of the tournaments in the top three networks will have more players, than the combined players inside their poker room.
